I would like any information on a 1468 or 1568 tractor. I am interested in purchasing one in the near future and would appreciate any information about what one is worth and any good or bad things about them. Thanks, Brian.

They were essentially a 1466 or 1566 with a 550 diesel v8. The engine was a converted gas and had problems staying in one piece. I'd guess most of that was people finding and turning up the smoke screw. The engine was a gutless wonder, with a whopping 7% torque rise (vs 30% in a 1066). The 14 would be a beast and a half driving down the road, because they had the 4 speed tranny. The 15 had outboard planitary rearend and only had a 3 speed. Probably a good tractor, provided you stay within the limits of what it was, IH's attempt at a show tractor. When I get rich, I plan on owning a 1468 with no cab. Fun ride.

As stated the engine did not have a good rep but I got 6200 hours out of mine before a 2 bit diesel shop diluted my oil and knocked my crank out. V8's are not noted for their lugging power, keep the revs up and let her work. 14's are better if you want it to work for you (4 speed) but 15's are better for a collector tractor (fewer made).
