thanks for the input on my tire question.nowi'm haveing trouble with the carb.it starts and idles just fine but at anything more than a fast idle i have to have the choke on at least half way. i had the carb apart last summer and put a kit in it then and it seemed ok, now the problem is back. i've had the carb off and cleaned out the bowl and checked for water. do the electric solenoids that shut off the fuel when the key is off ever go bad? maybe it lets enough fuel in to idle but not for high rpm?

sorry.. it's a 544 farmall, i don't see any iceing on the carb. think i'll look for a plug to fill the hole where the fuel shutoff solenoid is and see what happens

Yep sounds like the fuel shutoff solenoid might be jammed or bad. some have an adjustment where you can crank em open.
