I installed the valve and put the return plumbed into the filler neck and had problems with oil coming out the new vent witch was tee'd off the filler neck.Put a 3 ft pipe on today worked for awhile same thing happened.
It looks like you absolutly have to plumb into the bottom of the resevoir.
Live and learn I guess.

No, even plumbed to the bottom, the oil will still blow out the top.

You need to seal off the fill pipe so it's not vented when you use two-way hydraulics. I remember reading this in the Super H and Super M owner's manuals I have. I'll go back and double-check, but I'm fairly confident.

Like Steve says,

Just Tee the dump right back into your intake circuit at the drain plug.

I've seen a lot of 'em plumbed in this fashion and they work great.

I've always said to run the return to the bottom (drain) of the liftall unit.

Is it ok to use a tee fitting so you can also drain from there or is it best to use a 90 deg fitting.
Also with this set up is it necessary to plug off the vent or just use the original cap.
I would like to get this nailed down once and for all.
Thank you all for the comments

Putting a Tee there should be fine so that you can drain. Keep the vent on top or you will build up pressure and gaskets or seals will leak.

I would figure that was the case anyway since you are squeezing the airspace in the reservoir by releasing it in that manner.

Try drilling another hole in the reservoir as far away from the filler/vent as possible and run your return line into this. This will allow the air in the airspace to freely shift in and out through the breather as the reservoir capacity fluctuates.

A release port at the bottom of the tank is a good idea too. It will keep your hydraulic oil bubble free.
