just got all my sheet metal back from the painter , grill and gas tank went on well , the hood is tough and tight , i can get the side marker lines lined up but them it doesn't sit flush on top . when the hood is on the bodylines from the side are great but the front part on top doesn't set down flush with the grill, so the hump in the hood is about 1" tall the the grill hump ? but the bodylines on the side match up good , can't figure it out ? PLEASE HELP !

Before I paint, I assemble the grill, hood and tank,to make sure everything fits properly. I've had to add shims under the gas tank mounting pads, adjust the radiator support rod, move the radiator base forward or reward and tweak sheet metal one direction or another. I've also had to junk out one hood because it was not going to fit no matter what I did. If you do this before you paint your freshly painted parts will fit perfectly and you won't need to worry about scratching them up.

I'll add to what Wardner and George say:
Look at the photo section and you will note that there are few (if any) farmalls that are lined up very well. There was not much emphasis on the issue. There may be some wiggle room by adding to the surface the hood touches to build it up. Putting just a 1/16" of Webbing there makes a big difference. JimN

Sounds like something got shrunk or stretched. I'd wager that the hood is larger than it used to be due to sandblasting. You might want to measure a similar hood with a fiberglass or cloth tape measure.

Bobby, sounds to me like your radiator support rod need to be adjusted. It is the one right above the valve cover. On one end it is threaded and can be moved in or out. If hood is to tight let it out a little and it will lean the radiator and grill towards the front and get you enough room to put hood where it belongs. It is just below the steering shaft.
