The BN does not use the A diff housings as the ones for an A do not have the bosses for rear tooling and drive componets for planters, fert and other stuff using the axles for drivers.

Good morning gene. It's amazing how many misconceptions there are about these little tractors, isn't it?

All B and BN were narrow front, initially single wheel, later duals. The A is the same tractor, the BN uses the A axle housing extension on the right and a matching one on the left. The B uses 4 inch longer housings on both sides. The front wheel support is different on the A to take the wide front axle whereas the B and BN use a different front steering box etc.

8 inches

The rear wheels on a BN are 8 inches closer together on a BN than on a B. This is because the differential shafts on each side of the differential are 18 inches long on a BN vs 22 inches long on a B. 4 inches each side X 2 = 8 inches diffeerence.

Were all B & BN narrow front ends then? An A was then nearly the same except a wide front end with offset engine?
Thanks!

Yes, all B's & BN's were narrow front. They could be single or dual fronts, both were an option.

The A used the same engine, transmission, final drives and other things. Many identical parts on A's, B's, BN's.
