Have 49 cub sometimes it is hard to start other times start real easy, hot or cold. It has been major OHaul , with new ignition parts, also, the engine runs smooth , but, when bringing idle down below about 7 or 800 rpms the engine dies. the carb. has been boiled and will take adjustment I just can't get to idle at proper speed. Thanks for some input. Bill

Double check your ignition timing. Ignition timing is off - some place. Distributor drive gear off one or two teeth?

The Cub engine should easily idle in the 450 range.

Has this carburetor had the throttle valve removed when it was (boiled out).If so has it been put back in the right since they can be put in four ways and three are wrong.Even if it is in the right way it has to be seated properly with the stop screw backed off.CENTAUR

Is the governor kicking in and flooding the engine or does it just die?
