I understand that the SM belly pump was rated at 400 to 800 psi, depending on version and modifications, while the distributor pump was rated about 1200 psi, 12 gpm at 1450 rpm. I'm gathering parts and info to install a dist. drive pump on my SM, that we bought new in '52. Would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks.

For SM, belly pump pressure varied (400-800psi), depending on upgrades/modifications. The distributor drive pump was rated about 1200psi, 12gpm @ 1450 rpm. I'm thinking about adding the dist. pump to my SM, and would welcome any help.

Hey Chuck, be carefull and get several opinions as I read somewhere if you add a Dist. pump you have to put in heavier timing gears.

Thanks guys for the follow ups. That is what I was told to, but the Gent who told me was about %90 sure the SM already had the heavier gears, he said chk the part numbers against a 400 or 450 or SM-TA. I haven't got around to doing that yet.

Some belly pumps can go up to over a 1000lbs in pressure. But the biggest plus on the dist.drive pump is the Hyds. are live.
