Noise in transmission

I have a clicking noise in the transmission on my newly restored 1950 Cub.
It was noisey before I tore things apart so I replaced bearings and the reverse gear bushing.
I followed the service manual to the best of my ability concearning shimming for correct pre-load etc when I put things together. The same clicking is still present when rolling in neutral and when driving. It increases in loudness with speed. I am suspicious of the reverse idler gear but did not think it looked bad in any way when things were apart. Anyone had the same problem and perhaps some suggestions?

Mt Super-A clicks in reverse a lot - makes a little noise in forward as well, but not objectionable. The guy before me had the transmission apart to replace all the bearings. He could not figure out what one gear did, since it did not appear to do anything, so he did not replace it - even though it had a tooth missing. The "gear" is actually the reverse oil slinger. My guess is that it is what is doing the clicking. Gotta take the cover off and look in side some day if I can find the time. Anyway, might be something to check - I'm not sure if a cub has a reverse oiler gear or not

The Cub does not.

Could the noise be from a final drive rather than the transmission? Are your wheel lug bolts tight?
