I saw an old Farmal Regular, and the man that own it said it was a 1937 or a 1939? It was a cold winter day and he went out and started it for me. It was a big old rugged tractor. When he started it with a crank the exaust came out the left side. Is there someone there that can tell me more about this tractor- weight, Drawbar HP, PTO HP. what would it be worth? he had an extra engine, and a couple of wheels. The rubber was about 40% on the rear and the front tires. Thanks in advance.

Bob

It sounds like you've got a regular, although I wouldn't call a regular "big". If the exhaust comes out low, like near the engine, with no stack, then it's a regular, if there's a stack then it's an F tractor.
I have a '28 that patiently awaits restoration, they're two plow machines, I'm not sure but I think that they might have been a 10-20hp or something close probably not too much more. Since they originally sold with steel they aren't speed demons, they max out at about 3mph.
Most F-20 parts will swap right over, though it makes for some odd connections, like an exhaust that points up and such...

My grandfather has a 1928 Farmall Regular. It is indeed a fine machine. The tractor you saw must have been an F-20 or it was made in another year like Skip said. They are very similar tractors. We take parts from an old F20 that my granddad bought to part out a few years ago. The regular has a hand brake while the F20 has two foot brakes. Most of the parts from the F20 will fit the regular though. I suppose that if you can find horse power ratings for an F20, they should be similar to a regular. If you are thinking about buying an F20 or a regular i suggest you do. My grandfather has used both extensively on the farm and has praised them often. good luck.

Jeff

Regulars have exposed steering gears and 3 speeds the f- series had enclosed oil bath and 4 speed tranz.

There was a kit for the regular that would enclose the steering gears and make them look just like the later F-tractors.

Bob, If it is a farmall regular it is 1932 or older, the F20 replaced the regular in 32. The exhaust on F20 was on left side but was upward. don't know too much about value around $1,000 if running I would say.
