I am new to the IH community and need some info regarding a WK-40 that I am restoring. This is my grandpa's tractor and I grew up around it. It has been shedded for the past 20 years (turned over periodically to prevent the engine from sticking). This is my first venture into red territory (I am orange blooded - no flames please). In particular, I am looking for a good source for 15-32 tires (or equivalent - I think they are 15's) and rims. Also, I am looking for a reputable source for high-quality, historically accurate decals. Any other info on the tractor itself (rarity, value) and parts sources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. -Brian

P.S. - I don't know if they were all like this, but the tractor has cast iron wheel hubs

it is almost immpossible to find 15x32 tires. this tire has not been made since 1958. some of the early W9's had the same tire and rim, again will be diffucult to find. tom underwood is a good source for NOS, hard to find used parts. i just restored a WK that hadn't ran for 45 years. it was a project but it was fun. if you have problems e-mail me.

Congratulations! You are now restoring a fairly uncommon
McCormick-Deering. Approximately 6700 gas or
kerosene versions were built. If the cast wheels
are original the tractor was shipped with rubber
instead of steel wheels. Hopefully the engine is
not needing much work.FBB parts are harder to come
by. "Pappy" Vance in Hannibal,MO has worked on
IH trucks since time began, and should be able to help with engine parts. WK-40's use the same engine as early trucks. Tom Underwood in Lawrence,
Kansas is a good place to start for anything else
you might need. If he can't get it, he generally
knows who might. Does the tractor have 3 or 4 speeds? As for the correct color, check the serial
number. Early ones are gray, later ones are red.
Good luck and e-mail me with any more questions. Eugene
