The hydraulic pump on my 1976 White 2-102 went out at a very bad place . Going down the lane to the shop . Could not stop , or turn , crashed into the shop and ran over the rear end of my Farmall A ! Finding some parts cheap , having local weld shop make others up . Can anyone tell me what the total (end to end) length of the left side differential shaft is ?

The left diff. shaft of my '48 Super A is 9 1/16 inches long. (Maybe 9 3/32 because I only have a measuring tape available now.) My tractor is almost totally disassembled, so if you need more dimensions, post a reply to my reply and I'm more than willing to help you. Sad story though.

Thank you for the help , Hendrik ! The weld shop bent the diff. shaft back and it streched out to 9 1/4" ! He will need to make me one up then . Thanks again , Brad

The extra length is no problem I think, if you grind the exess off of the inside end. Getting it purely straight is another matter, because on such a short axle the slightest bend will ruin the outside ball bearing and the bearing(s) in the differential as well; and it will wreck the oil seal. Good luck, Hendrik

oh my! I hope you can get it and the shed back together ok. I know this is a day late kind of info, but I have a friend who designed an auxilliary back up system for Hydraulic systems on the large Catapillar Mining trucks so they wouldn't drop off the edge of those huge copper pits, that could have saved you a bunch of work. The second pressure fails, the back up system goes on. If you want email me and I can put you in touch with him if you want to try to put something like that on that White.
