I have a "39" "A". I just plowed 9 acres last fall. I plow a 1 acre patch and a 8 acre patch. the 8 acres took me 23 hours. I used a 1 bottom 12" mounted plow. I have black jack soil and my outfit had trouble in some places. The manual lift on the mounted plow will really beef up your arm!!

The most usual plow for the A is the single bottom 14 or 16 inch mounted plow made for it. It will pull that in 2nd gear in most soils. These plows are around at salvage dealers, and you should be able to pick one up for about $100.

you will need plenty of rear wheel weights to pull the 2-12 make sure the hitch on the plow is set correct also you wont want to tackle any large fields unless the pay is good the A is better with the one bottom mounted plow made for it

An IH A will pull a 2 bottom l2 inch plow fine.
