The Two point hitch on my 300 utility is about 4 inchs narrower then it should be. Every time I go to hook something up I have to use an old car jack to open it up to 28-29 inchs. When its relaxed its at about 24". I have jacked it open to 32" but it always comes back. Will I have to take it all apart and have that big U shaped bar pulled out until it stays where its suppose too? It would be nice to get rid of the car jack that I carry behind the seat.

Randy, I think 24 inches is the right number. I know it is about 2 inches too narrow for a Cat I 3 pt hitch, which is why the correct 3 pt adapters have a jog in them.

Oops, upon looking thru the archives I see 28 inches is the right number. I'd put a spreader bar in there to keep the sockets properly spaced. I must have the same problem as you with my 300U, except that I only use 3 pt equipment, so being 2 inches narrower than Cat I can be fixed the same was as 2 inches wider, just switch the 3 pt adapter tongs side to side.

Fred: It sounds to me as though he is using this tractor on 2 point equipment.
