i have a 6' belly mower that i mow my yard with that does a better job cutting than my lawn tractor but if you try to mow taller grass you will burn up the belts that cost about $100

If you're mowing your lawn, a belley mower will make a cleaner cut, but will be harder to hook up and remove if you find yourself needing to do that a lot. A "bush hog" pull behing will do just fine for the pasture and lot easier to hook up with the 3 point. I've also seen pull behing finish mowers. My belly mower is a royal pain to install and remove. Bottom line is will you be mowing a big pasture or a small lawn and need to make tight turns. If all you are going to do is mow, then a belly mower will be easier to maneuver with. If its large pasture size, a 3 point would be my choice.

For a newer driver, looking to the side for a belly unit is easier. The sickle bar also goes in the same direction as driver turns allowing following a fence line closer and safer. The trailing sickle bar tends to swing opposite at first when turning. If it's possible to get stuck, it's way too wet to be in there cutting in the first place.

pull type because you can get it into tighter places also you dont have to worry about bottoming-out another concern is if you did get hung-up in a stump or in mud you can always unhook mower and drive away then pull or pick mower free someone will probably say you can do that with-out unhooking but with some tractors the pto and hydro works together so you cant do it that way example 8n ford
