Recently someone on this board posted a question about a step for a Farmall A that bolts on the inside of the right drop-box. There is one in the picture on the front cover of a recent edition of Red Power. One of the replies was that someone is making them and has them for sale on E-bay. ???? I've checked E-bay a few times and haven't found anything like that. Does anyone know what this individual's name or e-mail address might be? Or where I might find one of these steps? I believe someone said it was a later I-H accessory. I tried Steel Wheel Ranch but they don't have any.
Thanks -- Brian

I use a second drawbar for my step. A piece 1/4 angle iron about 4" wide both ways works great, don't make it too long, it is hard on shins.

I like the second drawbar idea. I'll see if I can find one, if not I'll have Gene B make me one. Thanks for all the replies -- Brian

Brian: The second drawbar has a couple of benefits. IF you have a plow, all you have to do when you want to plow is take the back one off. Then of course the step. I just lengthened my swinging drawbar so it pins to the front drawbar. The other item I ocasionally do is get stuck in mud. That second drawbar is a lot better than the front axel to hook to when towing. Hugh

If you look closely it would be REALLY easy to make your own step with a couple of pieces of angle iron or tubing. I have a step on my Farmall A that I made out of some 3/4"X 2" tubing. Simply put a longer bolt in the front drawbar mount (the bar that the swinging part hooks to) and bolt it on!

This guy Paul refers to usually has a step for sale. What he doesn't say...as I understand it, all proceeds from his sales on ebay go to charity. That might make it worth checking out. His prices are reasonable.

I've made quite a few myself, one for each of my Cubs...8 in all, but do not sell them. The picture is of one I made for a Cub. A little tweaking would make one for an A.
