Were the H's and M's available with hydraulics right from the start of their production runs or were they added later and if so about what year? I am thinking of buying a larger tractor(most likely an H) this spring. But I want hydraulics already there.... Thanks!

The H is a very useful tractor but be aware that the H didn't have live Hydraulics, meaning the hydraulics stop when you push the clutch in. Also the H had 1 way hydraulics, meaning that you only had hydraulics that push only or pull only, these are usually set to lift an implement and the weight of the implement is what pulls it back down.
Live hydraulics and 2 way hydraulics can be added to a H but at considerable cost. most H's I've seen have not been converted to this.
another factor to think about is the H didn't have a three point hitch either. they only had a draw bar. this severely limits what implements you can use.
The late super H's had live/ 2 way hydraulics but no 3 point. You can buy a 3 point for the H or super H, cost is around $500-600 for a good quality Hitch.
The 300/350 series tractors had good hydraulics and farmall's 2 point fast hitch but are not too hard to adapt to 3 point. These tractors are what superceded the Super H. They usually cost a bit more than the H's, but are more useful and most will have power steering also.Power steering is almost mandatory if your going to use a front end loader!
I don't want to steer you away from the H, I own one my self and love it. I did put a 3 point on my H and am converting it to a 2 way hydraulic system. I just want you to be aware of the draw backs of such a old style tractor.
Just my 2.5 cents worth!

H/M hydraulics were belly mounted but not live drive original equipment from Farmall Works as a option, everthing was option in those days, can you imagine how plain H/M would look if only ordered basic tractor, optional was lights, hydraulics, starting, pto, drawbar, rubber tires/wheels, even muffler.

I think that all you have to do is look for a super H (means with hydraulics). Or a super M.

Hydraulics were an optional item on many tractors for many years so any given model from any given year may or may not have them. When live hydraulics became available many older tractors were retofitted with the new pumps. So don't worry about year, just make sure those tractors you look to buy have hydraulics available - and are working! Different parts of the country had varied requirements for instance in the cornbelt virtually all row crop tractors had hydraulics and PTOs not so elsewhere. Dick
