My neighbor wants to part with a restored Farmall B without attachments. I like the idea of not buying a 'project' tractor while I'm finishing an H. He'll sell it for $900, but that is also without hydraulics. I hope to use it in a pecan orchard by pulling a sprayer rig, 5' two-wheel bush hog, a disk harrow (if I can find one), and maybe cultivators for short rows of corn and peas. I would really like to have hydraulics, but my resource (Guy's data book) doesn't mention it. Can I get an original or aftermarket hypump? The price looks good. This fellow could have his own one man show...F12, F14, 3 H's, 3 M's, and a Regular.. soon to part with a B.

You could make a Super B taking the engine block and hydraulic unit from a C super A or Super C, But then it would not be original. It just depends on whether you want it original, or want
to make it more useful. I have also seen people mount a pump to run off the pto, but that would not be "live" hydraulics.

Unlike the A, the B was not built in a "super" version with hydraulics. You can get an exhaust lift setup for it, though.

Well Fred, you're right for the most part. IH did build a number of Super B's on an experimental basis only. I understand that they were all destroyed at the end of testing.

I have a "B" with the exhaust lift. I used it to cultivate with before restoring it. It was fun to use & did a good job. My suggestion is to go with a aftermaket hydraulic unit that runs off the fan belt or the PTO for the work you mentioned. Better yet get something with live hydraulics & more power to work with & restore the "B".
