Bob I am in need of your help. My new M came to me with a 12-volt conversion that had been done with a one (1) wire Alternator. While the Alternator was installed well, the wireing is a wreck. They tried to use most of the old 6-volt wireing and it is a mess. I want to start from scratch and build a new system. Could you post information similar to your article using the Delco 10SI, (WHICH WAS OUTSTANDING) only with the information for a one (1) wire alternator? I want to thank you in advance

Did a 12 volt conversion to a 1952 Super W6. I followed the wiring diagram for a super M. I used the warning light that is suppoed to go out when the tractor is running. Everything works great except the light doesn't go out, it gets brighter. What's wrong?

Bob, I did this to my M a few months back, and everything works fine, except, if I leave the bqattery hooked up, it seems to drain it over a week or so. It hasn't went dead yet, because I have learned to unhook the battery when I shut the tractor down. did I do something wrong? By the diagram, I have everything the same way. Thanks for all the electrical help.

Larry - That's a roblem often encountered with "single wire" alternators. Some versions have a regulator that draws significant current even when shut down - enough to drain the battery after a few days of being idle. That's why I'm not a big fan of single wire units. Pulling the ground cable off the battery after shutting down for the day is probably your cheapest workaround.

Note however the problem could also be a bad diode as Lou suggests...

Larry, your alt may have a bad diode plate in it. My "H" uses a one wire, new battery, starts great even after a couple weeks inactivity.
