How to shift T/A in 1456 and brake ???

First off I want to thank you all for helping me get my 1456 going. It is a neat tractor. I am just a young guy starting out, so this will be my main tractor for a while.

My question is I hear a lot about TA problems in these, and them being abused. In that case I would like any suggestions on how to properly shift it so I don't tear it up. I really don't want to have to split it again! Everything on it works good, including the TA, but I still don't have any brakes. My dad said we need to bled them, and my IT manual shows how.

This tractor had been sitting for a few years so I am hoping they are just bleed off. Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

When one is shifting a T/A shift it from low to high as fast as you can the qicker the clutch pack engages the better less slipageand DO NOT DOWN SHIFT AT HIGH SPEEDS WITH A LOAD PUSHING YOU , the T/A was designed to be used for extra power when in a tough spot not as a brake and when you do need extra power then shif it the same way fast. And when bleedin the brakes run the engine at low speed and open one bleeder at a time and press the pedal down and hold it till you have no air showen then close the bleeder and let up on the pedal then go to the other side.
