Can anyone tell me how to tell what year farmall C that I have. The casting no's end with an 's" which tells me its a 1950 model. The ser. no. is 151542 which tells me its a super C. This tractor has fast hitch also. The steering wheel is smaller and the gas tank is close to the hyd. reservoir. The engine no. under no. 1 cyl. is 42242G. The pistons are domed from what I can see thru the plug hole. Also this tractor has no disc brakes either. Did the C come with fas hitch also? Thanks for any help! Andy

You have a hybrid. The C did not come with fast hitch. All the Super C's had disk brakes and the taller radiator, creating a gap between the gas tank and the Touch Control reservoir. Sounds like someone replaced the rear housing with one from a SC and added the Fast Hitch. The C did not have all the holes needed to attach the fast hitch.

Andy: Sounds like a horse costume, front and rear! Try this: cross-check the day-month-year casting date on the engine with the one on the deck. Look at the year code. An "S" will put the engine -- and so likely the front end -- in 1949 (makes it a C), while a U,W,X,Y on the deck puts the back half in 1951 and later (makes it a SC). Which should confirm the good information from the other posters. RedTed/MO.

Someone probably changed the rear end. You have front of a C and rear of SC as C did not have all the holes to bolt on a fast hitch.

Not sure if it came with it, but it could have been added at some point.

It sounds like you have a C with lot's of Super C parts. I don't think the fast hitch came out until later. (1953?????/) Look behind the oil filter at the casting number on the block. If it start with a 2, it was originally a 113, if it starts with I think 358, then it's a 123. My C had been rebuilt with 3 1/8 bore sleeves and made it into a 123 cu.. I guess the only way to tell for sure is to drop the pan and measure the bore.

Thanks for all the info. guys. I looked at the casting codes on the deck and the rear end and they all end with S". The fast hitch seams to bolt right up to the rear end also. Iagree Ive got a hybrid and it aint pretty!
