Any suggestions on how to get my Super MTA more power? I am planning on doing some engine work and was wondering what combination of pistons, bore, stroke, cam, etc. would get some extra power and that some of you have found successful. I pull it locally around here in PA, and want a little extra umph. I don't want to go too wild as I still want to use it in the field and on the farm. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Just do what the previous owner did to our M-TA, drop in a C-281!!! Very cheap and quick I was told ;-) I don't think the officials at the tractor pulls would look at it in the same way, however!

Install the high alt. pistons and add a 450 head and a 450 intake and a littel carb work and redo the dist.

If you want to keep your tractor field reliable then I would only build up to equal a 450. You can 4 & 1/8 sleeve and pistons in the Super MTA block. You could put a propane head on it. To raise your compression you can go to a 5,000 ft altitude fire creator piston. I did this to a Super M. The only draw back to the 5,000 ft high altitude pistons and raising the compression is you have to be awful careful of combustion chamber precombustion. If I am pulling a pretty heavy load with my Super M I will run high octane fuel. My Super will dyno 60 hp at 1550 rpm

send your cam off to a machine shop and tell them if you pull stock or modified tell the rpms you run the best would be to grind it for low end torque a carb from a 715 ih comb. or 806 will fit your m you might need to use the top of the m carb it will fit a four weight m&w govenor makes a big difference our m is putting out 73 hp it has these things done to it we have the big fire craters and the head and manifold is ported and polished they also sell offset cam gear keys ask the machinist whats best the cam is the biggest increase in power.
