You may also need to change the generator. The generator for battery ignition was higher output to keep up with the extra load of the ignition system.

I have never heard of that. We I sell generators for Farmalls, there is no option of what type of ignition system they have.

Bruce almost any distribitor off of 4 cyl. IH tractor from 1940s and 1950s will work. You should be able to find everthing you need from salvage yard for about $125. That is going price in my area. If you want to cut cost you can convert magneto to batter ignition.

Yes, this is possible. You need to add a coil, dist, and a different kill switch. You will also have to run a hot wire for your coil; which you would run to one side of the switch. The wire that runs from the existing switch to the mag you can use to run from the coil to one side of the new switch. Central Tractor use to have a conversion kit, but you know the rest of that story.

Thank you for your reply. Question---What distributor should I use?? re Central Tractor, Our local CT in Butler, PA recently closed. I bought their fork truck. That was the last piece of equipment or goods left in the place. It was a sad day to have to drive away from a place that was once a source of neat stuff but now is only an empty building.
