Sounds like a heck of a deal for what you gave! You must be good tractor luck. If you ever make it to central KY we'll have to go a huntin' together, maybe some of that luck will rub off!

according to the serial number guide on this site, that number makes it a 1939 with the "J" meaning it has a Rockford clutch.

With the prefix of SH, that is definitely a Super H. Farmall started the numbering at 501 when the Supers came out. 39 H would not have had a Rockford clutch.

Sounds like you are the proud owner of the 267th super H that was built. Just out of curiousity is the motor serial number around 830 to 850? its stamped on the right side of block. Hope you enjoy your new tractor as much as I like my super H's.

I don't know what the farmers in your area used the single front wheel for but the farmers in Arizona used them with cotton pickers. The old tractors with the single front are very common here but can be kinda rare in some areas. Just as wide front tractors are fairly tuff to find down here.
