I think I've done every thing short of pull starting my 47 H that I could do by myself. I manually timed the mag to #1 TDC and have verified firing at the right time and seen spark thats gapped right. New dry cell battery installed and recharched after each afternoon's attempts. Compression is 110 on three cylinders and 100 on one and if I can get her going again I will adjust the valves hot as specified in the manual. Fuel tank has been boiled out and internaly sealed , carb has been bench tested at 5psi for half an hour. I get stong suction when I put my hand on the intake manifold with the carb off. Sprayed some ether up the intake manifold and didn't get a snort from the motor. Prior to this the H was erratic in starting but it did start and run fine. I hope to get her to fire on the first rev but I've never come across something like this. Any ideas as to where I might have gone wrong? Thanks for your help. This web site sure is

Hey Brian this does work or at least on a batt setup. If you don't have it timed correctly this will show you. Take the coil wire and stick it in one of the spark plug openings in the cap, which one doesn't matter, preferably one with higher compression. Give it a try. It will run on one cylinder. Then you can go from their. Good luck.

Verify that your fireing order is correct.
also make sure your kill switch is pulled out.
I've made both of these errors myself at one time or another.
make sure the rotor is pointing to the #1 terminal just befor the impulse trips. when you have it comeing up on #1 TDC
