(I originally posted this on another forum, but wanted to post here also to hopefully get responses from a different circle of enthusiasts. The info will be helpful to others as well.)

I have to keep wiping the drool off my chin when I go to the photo ads and see some of the great tractors for sale. Problem is, I only have a 5,000# trailer (need to haul 10,000#) and I don't want to burn up a week of vacation and hundreds of gallons of fuel driving from East Texas to some other state to haul a tractor back home.

How have others on this forum arranged for third-party interstate transportaion? Any contacts would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I have a local company that will haul from anywhere to anywhere in the US. You might just have to wait a bit to get it, but they are cheaper than most. $0.50 per mile for one tractor - $0.75 per mile for 2 tractors - $1 per mile to haul 3 tractors - and a $1.20 per mile for a full load.

Call them up and ask for a quote before you buy.

Gee Bob, you live in east Texas,. I've felt that was one of the best places to find inexpensive tractors. It's always better to buy one close to home. I know how you feel I've seen some great tractors go for dirt cheap but when I factored in the hauling costs, it just didn't make enough sense to try to buy them.
The hauling costs will be around $1.00 per mile and up for a decent hauler.
Look for a hauler that needs to fill a partial load that is going your way it may bring down the cost some.

I have done business with Wayne Stowe from Rochester, Minnesota. Good man, and have heard others say great things about him too. 507.269.6696

Have you tried the "Hauling Schedule" on the left side of the screen?

I've looked through the Hauling Schedule just to get a feel for who's who. Figured some would know of others not posted there. Will definitely use this tool when I get close to laying down the $ for the tractor.
