I just rebuilt the carb. on my 1942 farmall h. The tractor runs fairly decent. But when I went to adjust the screws on the carb. the motor does not respond. Is there something I could have put back together wrong? Also the throttle does not respond between idle and half way up, but once the throttle is half way up or higher it responds.
Any ideas or comments would be appreciated. thanks!!

Bob, on your linkage setup there are a few places you can make adjustments that will provide quicker response of the throttle lever position. The best is where the long throttle rod attaches to the bellcrank above the exhaust manifold. There is a bracket with springs on the rod that can be moved. Move the bracket closer to the end of the throttle rod to start acceleration sooner. Those nuts are fine threaded so be patient. It is a good idea to clean and oil the threads before breaking the nuts loose.

Bob, check the connection between the carb & governor. Its easy to get the little square shaft that connects the two out of its slot when you put the carb back on, & if it happens, it'll give you fits before you find it. (Don't even ask how I know this.) It'll run, but won't respond properly. Also air leaks between the carb & intake as well as a bad intake gasket/warped intake manifold can give you fits too. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
