Does anyone know the facts relating to the history of the I-12? Why was this a different model than the rest of the F-12, O-12 family? What are it's distinguishing characteristics?

Bob, a few other differences are, the serial number prefix is "IS", and they have a "International" name plate, placed on the upper radiator tank. Like the W-12s, they were a standard tread tractor, unless they were set up for a special purpose. They could be purchased with hard rubber wheels, early on, and when rubber tires were made available, could be purchased with these.

I models carried the International name and were industrial use tractors. F models carried the Farmall name and were AG tractors. There were differences in the gearing, The I-12 went 10 3/8 mph in 3rd gear and the F-12 only went 3 3/4 mph in 3rd gear. The engine speed was also different 1400 rpm for the F-12 and 2000 rpm for the I-12. Those are just a couple of the differences, there were several others
