IH 350 Utility Hydraulic questions

I have a 350U with the fast hitch w/traction control with a hydraulic cylinder located at the right side (vertical) behind the seat. The problems i am having is lack of down pressure and slow raising on the implements.

I have a friend that has a 300U with the Hyd. Cyl located (horiz) on the left side of the seat and he can raise the rear wheels off the ground using a backblade. And he has quick response up/down.

I've checked the Hyd screen in the reservoir and it is clean. I understand I need a Hyd. Gauge to check the pressure in the system. I know some of the assy. such as the regulator saftey valve, check valve block or the pump itself could be bad . I do have power steering and it seems to be working normally.

If someone might have a suggestion please

thanks in advance

Are you sure the problem is in the hydraulics? On my 330U, which is very similar, there is a pin in the bottome of the cylinder that can be removed and replaced, depending on whether you want the hitch to float. If the pin is not in place, there is no down pressure. With the tractor shut off and no implement on the hitch, if you can raise the hitch by hand or with a bar, the pin is not installed. Also, under power, see if the cylinder extends when you try to put the hitch down, even if the hitch itself doesn't actually move. As far as the speed of operation, I think it may be just naturally slow, my 330 is. Again, if the pin isn't in place, the cylinder will extend all the way when you lower an implement, and must come back partway before it starts raising the hitch. Watch the hitch and cylinder to see if this is what's happening.

We have a 300U like you described, and it can raise itself up too. Our 460 row crop has one of those traction control hitches - I don't like it one bit. You will NOT be able to get any downpressure or lift yourself off the ground, that is just the way they were designed. As for the hydraulics being slow, I don't know what to say. I imagine it is the pump or valve spool maybe.
Best of luck!
