I have a 1942 farmall h without a belly pump. I have put in two new countershaft seals and have ruined both of them. The first time I left the old seal in because I heard it was okay to double seal it and when I put the new seal in I tightened it down as far as I could and discovered that I had crushed the seal! So I got another seal and did the same thing but made sure this time just to snug it down and after running a little bit it started to leak a little bit so I looked and I guess the rotation of the countershaft tightened the nut down more and crushed the seal again. I was wondering if maybe I'm putting the seal in backwards? I have been putting the seal in with the flat part facing out. Does anyone have pictures of how the seal goes in or a description? I don't want to ruin another seal! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Bob

You got it in right, but you need to get the old seal out first.
