Evenin I have a pickle here and wondered if my 1970 Cub Lo-boy 154's generator starter can be replaced by somethin that really works cause mine don't. Or rebuild-replace the old gen. start? Also wanted info on steering wheel and dash plate for this ol' tractor which is really in fine shape overall. Thanks Belt Buster

Take the starter-generator to a generator shop and have them rebuild it. I just did that to mine and it cost $35. They put in one brush and cleaned the commutator and replaced a bearing. Tractor runs great. I have used my 154 for the past 25 years cutting grass with a IH 3260 72" mower and have had no problems whatever. Change the oil often and don't forget to check / add hy-tran fluid to the transmission and final drives. I use prestone and distilled water in the cooling system and watch the level. Keep the antifreeze 2" below the level of the cap because it is a thermosyphon system. Other than that good preventive maintenance is the key. good luck !
