Well, I can stand it no longer. I NEED a big Farmall. Sure, my 8N and Dad's Super A are good for what we do, but ever since I heard that M running full throttle at a tractor show, I havent been able to get it out of my head.

I've tried everything, from buying (and reselling) a Deere to trying to ignore tractors altogether, but I cant do it. I need a big Farmall.

My question- What size plow will an M, Super M, h, Super H, and the Hundred series pull? How much do they weigh, what's the average price, and what's the horsepower?

I swear, Tractors are more addictive than anything I've ever come across...

The Super M was rated at 44 horse. It has a lot of torque and with wheel weights and calcium in the tires it will pull a 3 bottom easily in 2nd gear. It will pull a 2 bottom in any gear you are brave enough to go for. If you are hoby farming or have only 5 or 10 acres get a Super M with an M&W clutch and an after market 3 point hitch. It will be all the tractor you need. If you have bigger plans go more modern and get something with a factory 3point, torque amplifier live pto etc.

just go out and buy a good m so you will be happy. that is the main thing. i have a 1947 m that sees daily use feeding cattle all winter and still does me a good job. Some day I will update and then will retire the old m to the show circuit. expect to pay around 15 hundred for a good running M and then you will have a tractor that will take up a lot of room in your wife's car shed and will be heavy to haul but think what fun it will be!

I've had 8 and 2 N Fords and they don't have much power. If I were you and looking to increase my power I'd go to a Farmall M or a 300,350,400or 450 Farmall.I like the live power and the hydraulics in the 300,350,400,and the 450s and they don't cost you that much more. The M's were probably the best Farmall ever made but limited on what you could do with them.I have a 400,350 and a Super C and I like the power of the 350 and 400.An H is not much larger than the super c.the c has 20-24 horsepower, the M has 25 horsepower, the Super M has 37 hp, the 300 has 30 horsepower, and the 400 has about 45 hp.The h has between 19-26 hp. These hp ratings are on the drawbar and not on the belt or PTO.

M was a good tractor in its day, probably the best tractor in that era. However, certainly no match for the 06 and 56 series tractors, with their Independant PTO, direct start diesels, 3 point hitch, operators platform, etc. Afterall a 656 was nothing more than a much improved Farmall M. The rear axels and wheels will interchange, so will the front end.
