Diesel was a cost option extra, would guess in Iowa where a large amount of tractors sold of this size in that era would guess 50/50 split, later ones were mostly diesel after M & W came out with add-on turbo kit. Still a lot of farmers would buy a gas if they had a lot of chores in the winter and this tractor was the main horse, some of them just didnt like the smell or noise of diesel.

I don't have the answer. I can tell that here in Canada I have never seen a gas 560 in my neck of the woods. We had a lot of 560 diesels. The other item you must consider is we were paying 30-40% more for both gas and diesel in Canada as oposed to US prices. That item alone ended the sale of larger gas tractors in the early sixties. Taking part in discussion forums it always surprises me to see people asking questions about gas 560, 06 series, 56 series and even the 666 and 766. Gas versions of those tractors are unheard of up here.

Bet it would also really surprise you that even the 686 could be had with a gas engine. A lot of those big gassers are uncommon here in the U.S. too. Probably about 50/50 spilt on 560's, 706's, and 656's, a few 806's, 756's and 666's, but 856, 826, 766, and 686 gassers are really a rarity.
