I'm painting my A and I am jacking up the rear and palcing those cheap stnachoions underneath it to hold up the rear.

I remove the left wheel, and everyhting is fine. Then I take off the weighted right rear and lo and behold, the darn tractor tipped over and fell.

Good thing nobody was on the other side. It just plain fell on the heavy offset engine side and oh man did I laugh and cry at the same time.

I'm ok.

I had a heck of a time trying to get the jack underneath to lift it up. But I evenutally raised it up and put better blocking underneath and not the cheap tripod adjusteblae lift things.

They are too wobbly and caused my tracotr to fall over.

Bill. The owners manual shows a wedge being used on front axle to kept tractor from tiping. Looks like it can be made out of wood. Enjoy safely. MD

seems like i can relate to that. When i was still in high school my boss sent me out to reverse the wheels on a 154 Leyland (about the size of a Ford Ferguson)while I had both wheels off it decided to sit down and I was glad there was nobody around to see my mess. It took all the blocking I had with me to get it back up again.

Just one more comment. I always set my tractors on wooden blocks that I place under the wheels after I take off the tires & rims. This allows me to get under the tractor better when I am painting. Also not as apt to fall off of the blocks as it is to tip off of the jack stands (wider stance). It is also easy to roll the wheel around and paint what you missed when you are putting the tires back on.

Boy oh Boy you learned the hard way why they put heaver cast wheels on the right side of the A's. In addition to the cast wheel my A also has an extra wheel weight on the right side.

Glad you nor anyone else were not hurt. Well maybe your pride just a little.

Also glad it was before the new paint job and not after.

Bill, glad you are not hurt.

That is one of the stories I would NOT tell anyone.

Good luck with the rest of the restoration.
