Everyone, My newest 52R combine is equipped with a U-1 or in layman's terms a Farmall Cub power unit. It is currently hand-start but I'm thinking about changing it over to electric. There's a cover over the hole where the starter goes but there's no ring gear on the flywheel. What I'm wondering is, are there any differences between the power unit engine and the tractor engine, from the clutch forward to the radiator, to prevent me installing a Cub ring gear and converting it to electric start? Further, are there any differences between the Cub power unit used on the later combines, balers, etc. and the one used on the 52R? I want to use IH parts, not "rig up" something. What about a charging system? I haven't had any luck finding a parts book so far--in the combine parts book there's a notation that parts information for the engine will be mailed to the dealers at a later date! thanks, Al Jones
