I have a 1958 240 Farmall and the float in the carb is sticking and i cant get it to get right, I will brush hog with it and about 15 min. later it will die then i will clean the sediment bowl and tap on the carb. and it will run for mabye 5 min. at the most. Most of the time it will start run for about 15 sec. then die. Any info. will be apprieciated.

i really think that you have a clog somewhere between the tank and carb, not the carb. try taking out the fuel bowl assembly and flush the tank with a bit of gas and make sure the bowl valve and fuel lines are flowing.

remove and thoroughly clean your fuel tank. clean out sediment bowl. replace fuel tank. next remove and rebuild the carburetor..replace using new gaskets.
e-mail me if you have any problems

Does it have the Carter UT carb. I may have a suggestion if it is. I had mine off a dozen times until I figured out that the U-shaped float was dragging against the bowl. Do you have a lot of crap in the tank that has the stand pipe in the gas tank plugged up? You may want to take off the sediment bowl and make sure it's clear. Also, if your tank is real cruddy, and you don't want to seal the inside of the tank, you can install an inline filter from a local auto store. Also check the screen, if you have one, entering the carburator.
