I just took the sediment bowl off my h to clean it and install a new screen and gasket. when I put it back on the gas would only trickle out. Someone told me that I had tightened the bowl down too much so I loosened it open some and the gas came out like it should but then it was not tight enough and the gas was leaking around the top of the bowl. Is there something I am not doing right? I don't want gas leaking all over my new paint job!! Why would how tight the bowl is effect the gas flow? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

When I put the bowl back on, I usually tighten up just enough to get it mostly snug, and then turn on the gas valve. I then tighten it just a tiny bit more after the gas stops leaking from around rim of the sediment bowl.

That's perfectly normal! Simply tighten the sediment bowl normally, open the shutoff valve, then start the tractor. Soon as the carb starts feeding gas to motor, the sediment bowl will fill right up.
