How old is an IH 37T baler? Is this a square or round type? How big of a unit is it? I want to run a baler with my '49 C and would like some help picking one out.

Thanks,

I have a 37 as well. They are good balers. Around the early 60's as far as age goes. The only real problem you might get from the knotters is a dull twine knife or grooves worn in the duck bills.

Carp,
You're right about those knives, after I sharpened mine it cut like a charm. I heard alot about how great the NH and JD balers are but the IH 37 was the right price and does the job.

I've got a IH37 baler, yes its a small square baler. Mine works fine, needed a bit of work when I got it but works fine. I've run it from a 300Utility and a W-6 no problem. Don't over feed it and you should be ok.

I've never run one of the things, but my guess is that it would really give your little C a workout. I think the bad reputation of older IH balers was that parts would wear bad and there would be problems with the knotting mechanism or something.... It had something to do with stopping the production of a bale and tying it. I would try this one out to see how it works before you pump too much money into it. JD 14T's and 24T's are probably the most widely used old balers

It's a small square twine baler. I don't know when they were made but it was a while ago. You could pull it with a C as long as you are dropping the bales on the ground, I don't think you could pull a wagon with any baler. Older New Holland or JD balers seem to have a better reputation than IH, but condition varies at that age. I have a 27T that works okay but I think there are better choices out there.
