just drug a 1950 m diesel out of the brush,i can get it started o.k. but cant get it to idle down.when it starts it is at full throttle,and i can only get it slowed by compresion release.all the linkage that i see appears to be moving freely.will i find the problem inside the pump?thanks for any suggestions. bob

thanks for the help,i have tried everything and still cant shut the fuel off.i have the pump laying on the bench.i will know tomorrow what the problem is. bob

Open up side cover on pump, see if internal linkage is free, it is probably stuck from sitting. WD-40 the pivots and work it back and forth till it loosens up. Common problem, my MD did that when I got it.

you could try disconnecting the link to the
pump, and move it to the extremes manually.
Then it would just be an adjustment of the
linkage. If not you will probably have
to take the pump apart and see what is
sticking or broken.

Oh, you should make sure there is oil in the
pump by opening the drain.

If you need another pump, I have one
for $175.
