Who's buys this stuff on ebay. I was bidding on a front "FARMALL" emblem for a M and it sold for $26.00 plus shipping. I can go to a local tractor salvage yard and buy the same thing for $20.00 with no shipping. Shop around people.

eBay can be a real headache and a real treasure chest....it is how smarly you shop. I have bought good new parts off there for 2/3 anyone elses price. I think people just get carried away when bidding and want to be a "winner" no matter how much they have to pay. When the price gets out of range, you have to have the discipline to forget it and let some other fool pay too much. There is a great business called "univparts" on eBay. They have good new parts for IH cheaper than any other I have found. I have spent a few hundred there in the past months and have been pleased with all I got and they ship FAST. I bought a new clutch and P/P from them on a Friday and had it at my house on Tue.

I have to agree with some of the other fellows, e-bay can yield some deals. I bought an oil pump for my H for $7 and a belt pulley drive assembly for $17 (plus shipping), and I was real happy to get both. I have also seen some parts go on e-bay at prices much lower than salvage yards were selling them for. I've kicked myself more than once for paying too much to a salvage yard for a part that went for a song on e-bay. On the other hand, some items like the emblems you mention go for prices that are absurd. I don't remember who it was, but someone on the forum said that he didn't buy anything for his Farmall until he had three price quotes. I've found this to be good advice for dealing with e-bay - call around, find out the going price for reproductions and used parts, then bid on e-bay.

Nearest salvage yard I know of that would have farm tractor parts is probably 100 miles away, on the other side of the mountains. Let's see, shipping on that would be $15-20 bucks based on my gas mileage and local gas prices, if I picked it up myself, not to mention taking the better part of a day. Nice scenery though, going over the pass.

I just received 2 Farmall 130 chrome emblems,
that I purchased off ebay. Paid .99 cents plus
shipping. Have two salvage yards within hr drive.
Got lucky!!!I play ebay scene a great deal looking

Some may be in the same boat I am in also. I am not aware of a tractor salvage closer than 100 miles of me. They may exist, but I haven't located one closer. I usually wait until I am going to be close then try to stop in, but some like the convenience of having it delivered to their door, and not have to "beat the bushes" for a part. Ebay generates a lot of competitive bidding and some will give more than it is actually worth to "win" the auction. You know what they say...something is only worth what someone else will give. I sold a tool box for a tractor on ebay for $50.00. I could have never even found a buyer locally, let alone have gotten that kind of price. Guess it was worth it to him, and maybe whoever was bidding against him.

It might vary from location to location. I just bought a set of fenders for an A off of ebay for 96.00 shipped. I could not find any around S. MI.
