Hi Guys, I managed to break one of the three fingers off of my TA clutch pack yesterday on my 460. I pull the finger out and unhooked the TA linkage from the traction clutch and everything seems to work fine other than it shifts a little harder. I'm not comfortable with it though so I'm wondering if I'm going to end up wrecking more stuff or will it work this way? I know TA's aren't cheap and I don't really need to have the low since it's only a loader tractor so does anybody make a shaft that can go in place of the TA so that I never have this problem again? Is the TA real hard to do myself if I get a set of stands to split the tractor? Thanks for the help!

Your cheapest repair option is to make the front split, replace the TA pressure plate and release bearing and perhaps the TA clutch disc. If the TA operated correctly before the finger failed, TA unit replacement is not necessary, nor a double split. You probably will eventually damage the transmission by shifting without unloading the TA clutch as it is intended when adjusted properly.

I've heard of TA eliminator kits, not sure if they make one for the 460; or, if you could find a 460 that came without a TA from the factory in a salvage yard, I belive you could use parts from it to eliminate your TA.
