I replaced the rear crank seal on our "47 Cub. You can press the seal in the retainer by finger pressure. Consequently,it will push out when the motor is running. Has anyone had this happen and how can I fix it? Thank you.

Yes, this has happened to every Cub I've done, and other people has had it happen to them. The replacment seals are smaller O.D. than the originals and they are thinner also. I use a high temp silicone around the O.D. of the seal and after it dries it can't turn in the retainer. I've never had any trouble with the seal itself leaking around the crankshaft. I had to redo the first couple Cubs before I found out what was happening.
