Well I started rebuilding my B have 2 busted blocks so found good block and started tearing everthing down today and darned if both heads have cracks in them. My question have any of you guys used a head with crack in water jacket. The cracks are between 2 water holes on the manifold side and don't go into combustion chamber. Do you think maybe it is usable? Any suggestions. Thanks a bunch.Bill

I recently had the head for my '34 Chev truck metal spray welded. The crack went through #2 exhaust valve seat. They repiared the crack and because of the location of the crack they needed to install a new valve seat insert.I had them go ahead and do all the valve seats.Whole job cost was $350.The tractor head may be cheaper because it is only a 4cyl.Just trying to give you an idea of how much you will pay for a repair job.The good thing about going this route is you will be almost sure of getting a repair that will work because they clean the head by hot dipping and pressure test it when completed. They can also do some testing to assure there are no other cracks that are not readily visible.
