Looking at 300 utility. Has live PTO, Dual remotes, fast hitch with 3pt conversion, T/A and Power steering. Everything works fine except power steering, has new hydraulic pump. Nothing appears broken and in general the tractor is in good shape. Has anyone rebuilt the Power steering on one of these, it looks like a simple system. Any weak points etc. Thanks

Before you dig into the p/s unit, make sure you are getting pressure to it. There's probably an approved way to do this, but I would just loosen the input line to it a bit and see if it squirts oil out there for starters. It could be you have a bad priority valve (flow control valve, located at the right rear of the seat) or you may be missing the blockoff plug on the inner front hydraulic control valve. If that plug isn't there, the power steering doesn't work. As far as working on the p/s unit, it is pretty straightforward, but you will want a service manual. Toughest thing is to get at the danged thing, as you have to remove the hood, steering wheel, dash, gas tank, and tank mounting bracket. There's also a bunch of little parts in the valve body that you have to remember where they go, so taking pictures as you disassemble is a good idea.
