I need to replace the bearing on the steering shaft of my Cub. I have removed the shaft, bearing housing and worm gear from the tractor.
Now, do I pull the worm gear off the shaft, or does the bearing come off the steering wheel end of the shaft? THANKS for your help!!!

Ben,

I see you've waited a while without an answer, so here's my $.02. The worm is not intended to be removed, but the bearing is easily replaced from the other end. Don't forget to clean up the area where the seal goes and replace the seal too. It is the most important seal on the tractor. It has to keep water out of the gear box which will quickly destroy it.
