I am going to replace the front tires on my narrow front H. I was wondering where should I put the jack to lift the front end up? I know i can't put it underneath the oil pan. I have to take the whole wheel and bearings out because the bolts that hold the rim to the hub are pretty rusted and the wheel bearings need repacked anyway. Does anyone have any ideas or pictures of how this done? thanks Bob

The jack will also fit under the frame rail.

Unless you don't have a narrow front, why use a jack? We used to drive one wheel up on a 2 X 8 & take the other side apart to grease wheel bearings. When done w/that one, back it off the 2 X 8, put in front of the other tire & drive it back on the 2X. Lock the brakes & no danger of it falling on ya. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Yep, That'll work. If anyone on here happens to have a JD with a Roll-a-matic though, it won't work on them. I remember a young dumb kid that tried it about 30 years ago. By the way he looked a lot like me. LOL

Yep, that's the same thing I do, I use two 2-by's, and that gets it up plenty high. Then you can just do your thing on that side and switch. But otherwise, put the jack under your clutch housing or somewhere in that general area, and block in the same locality, if you have to remove the entire front end.

You're right you don't need a jack unless you are going to have the whole front end off like I did. I've used the 4x8 method when I'm going to only take one wheel off at a time. Works real nice.

When I rebuilt the front end of my H, I put a jack under the belly just in front of the belly pump. This worked well for me. Be sure to block the tractor securly and set the brakes.
