Set the valves. Fine tuned the timing. Now it is popping out the exhaust. It isn't coming through the carbureator any more. What now? There's 90 lb. pressure on each cylinder. The cam is turning. Wondering if it could be slabbed at an angle near the #4 cylinder enough to cause it to misfire but not enough to keep it from turning. Could that be possible?

Alvin,I am curious..usually Popping out a valve would mean that the engine is firing when a valve is still open or firing late when the valve has legitimately opened, having read your post and seeing all you have done it would seem like a timing problem. Your earlier post said it was popping out the carb...that sounds like pre ignition so I suggest you check your timing. You fine tuned the timing, could you be out a notch after the rebuild? Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

When you had the valves "seated" as stated in the earlier post, did you replace valve springs? How about the guides? It may be the valves are sticking. I'd take the valve cover off and watch the thing run. Does your A have exhaust valve rotators?
