I have a F-20 serial # 20112 which from lists I've seen should be a 1935. This tractor has electric start. From what I can tell the flywheel and bell housing are original from IHC, it is also a six volt system. I was wondering if anyone has any information on this and if it came original this way or was a dealer installed option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

F-20s never came from the factory with electric start. F-14s did. The Heisler co. made a kit to install electric start on F-20s. Dealers may have installed them before the tractors were sold, but IH never put them on. There is no reference in the parts book to electric start, only electric lighting. There was an article in Red Power a while back about how these kits were installed.
Heisler made many aftermarket parts for these tractors including overdrives, and a gasoline manifold-which by the way is what the reproduction manifolds you can buy now are a copy of. I think if you look over the bellhousing, you won't be able to find the IHC emblem or an IH part #. If I am wrong about this, let me know.

That doesn't sound like an IH part #. I would guess that the H is for Heisler. It is still a desirable option to have becuase you don't see too many of them. Does it have all of the switches and wiring and generator? If it doesn't
you don't have to worry about how correct you make it. From what I gathered from the article in Red Power, Hiesler supplied the bellhousing and ring gear and maybe the starter and the rest was up to the person intalling it to come up with. I have seen some that had the amp gauge box from an H or M added and the same switch as an H or M.

It still had the generator and starter, and some of the wiring. The starter and generator were both locked up, I got the starter working and I'm still working on the generator. Your information was very helpfull I appreciate it greatly.

Andy if you have a starter and a toothed flywheel, that 20 has been modified. I think only the 1939s had an option for electric start.
