I recently bought a Farmall M. I'm not sure what year it is because the serial number plate is missing. I heard that they can be identified by the Chassis number but can find no information on this. I believe the chassis number is 8002-DD and the Engine number is 6722-DD.

Hello Bill, ----- 20 / July / 2002 -----

SERIAL NUMBER -- PREFIX LETTERS

For the International "Farmall M" (gas);

The PREFIX LETTERS (for the CHASSIS) is FBK and FBKV for the high clearest tractor.
The PREFIX LETTERS (for the MOTOR) is FBKM and FBKVM for the high clearest tractor.

For the International "Farmall MD" (Diesel);

The PREFIX LETTERS (for the Chassis) is FDBK and FDBKV for the high clearest tractor. The PREFIX LETTERS (for the MOTOR) is FDBKM and FDBKVM for the high clearest tractor.

The # Numbers would be the same for the chassis and motor (if the motor has not been changed).

Bill, Look under the number 1 spark plug and the serial number for the engine will be stamped on a raised area. The engine number and tractor number should be the same or close, if the engine has not been changed. You may have to scrape some grease and paint to see it, but it is there. number 1 plug is the first on behind the radiator. Go to the serial number link to the left and look the year. Good luck
