can anyone tell me what the proper oil pressure for a farmall h is at idle and full speed? Thanks Bob

My 1940, never rebuilt, pegs the oil pressure gauge at idle. Just bought this tractor, and I think "That ain't right"! Same before and after oil and filter change. Probably a bad gauge?

Yes, I'd make certain the gauge isn't the problem. If the gauge is good, I'd not hesitate to look deeper. You don't want a bad pressure relief valve that allows too much oil pressure.

I've said it before.. I'll say it again... low oil pressure with oil circulation hurts nothing. High oil pressure and no circulation, or circulation blocked to certain engine components, can be doing all kinds of nasty little damage.

Bob, all the service manuel says is that the pressure relief valve spring is set to 60 - 70 lbs of pressure.
