I am new to carb's and I was wondering if someone could explain how to adjust the float on my farmall h and also what symtoms the motor might show if the float is set too low or too high. I was told to just set it so it is level. Is this okay? thanks Bob

Bob,
My I&T manual shows the float set pretty level, but the manual shows the float height setting to be 1 53/64ths inch from the bottom of the float to the top side of the gasket. When properly adjusted, the fuel level should be at the top of the float pivot pin (or very close).

Hope this helps,
Phl

Turn the carburetor body over with the float and needle installed, eye ball it and it should be level. Be careful how you bend the float lever to make a correction. Carburetor overhaul kits come with a gauge for this. With these old carburetors the "level" method works most of the time.
